9th Rallye of Bergeracois Print E-mail

The 9th and 10th of february 2008, the 9th Rallye of regularity of Bergeracois was organized. This rally is a part of the CartoSud challenge and of the new Challenge Historique of Aquitaine, grouping the rallyes of Bergeracois, Vignes and Virages, Prunes and Bastides and Bordeaux Classic.


Christine and me has participated with our Renault 8 Major. 

The older told that this rally used to be a difficult one, with more than 350 Km and 70% of cartography. They were right! They just forget to tell us Patrick Figues and his team was so efficient, so competent, courteous and always keen to offer all the best conditions.

All crew were preparing, with some different styles.

Superbe Alpine A110 1600S - Mecanics

Two big stages:

Saturday, at 2:00 pm, after technical controls, the first crews...On Saturday at 14:00, after technical inspections, the first crew left Bergerac for the nearby region of Montbazillac, Puyguilhem and Eymet. Soon, difficulties arrived! Above all, we kept focused on the roadbook, without following the other cars, as if we were the only one to pariticpate! The difficulty of the test surprises us ... But for every hesitation, we prefer to readjust our poistion on maps, and not to miss too many check point panels.


The cartography becomes even more complicated at night, and organization gave to all teams voluntary old maps of poor quality to make this rally harder. After, the lunch allowed us to restart more confident, and start to understand the vice of all these traps (church towers, roundabouts, check points...).
In the middle of the night, the course drive us to to Eymet, where 40 years before, there was a Monte Carlo rally check point. At 1:00, it was time to go to bed!


Sunday morning, after a breakfast hosted by the Peugeot Garage of Bergerac, we continued for 2 new stages. One of them allowed us to test in real conditions the strange German traced road. Around noon, all teams joined dor the meal and awards ceremony.

Concerning the rankings, we finished at the 22th place of 65. The parc of the cars was so large : from Citroën 2CV up to Porsche 356, from Alfa Romeo to Ford Thunderbird.


This rally was the opportuunity to meet some very sympathetic teams, like Claude Goulin on Renault 8 Major too ; without his advices, we could not participate, or Evan Mackenzie, driver of a rare right driven Renault 8 Gordini.



We also have to sincerely thank the team of Patrick Figuès for the quality of this very exciting rally... We will participate next year!
